Disciple Fast Track Studies

Studying the Bible is essential to becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ. Disciple Bible Study draws upon the work of scholars, the personal Bible reading and study of the participant, and dynamic group discussion to aid understanding of the Bible and how to apply it in our daily lives.

Disciple Bible Studies are co-ed and multi-generational, open to all adults. There are four primary studies in the series with additional studies for further exploration. Most studies are 24 weeks long, with two 12-week sessions in each of the Old and New Testaments. Studies typically begin in September. These studies are taught in numerical order.

Cost: $34 for two study manuals.

Disciple 1: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study

The first study in the program is Disciple Fast Track: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study, a 24-week overview of the entire Bible. Classes cover the entire Bible—from Genesis to Revelation—in a total of 24 weeks, broken down into two 12-week sessions, with daily Bible reading, notes and questions. Weekly sessions last an hour to 75 minutes. Four video hosts provide approximately 5-minute video insights related to the week’s session to help recall important facts and offer insights. At the end of the 24-week study, participants have the opportunity to take a spiritual gifts assessment and determine meaningful ways they can serve and live out their discipleship commitment.

Disciple 1 will have two class offerings this Fall:

Tuesday mornings: Begins October 1 | 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. | B203

Wednesday evenings: Begins October 2 | 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. | Hayes Hall A

Disciple 2: Into the Word, Into the World

Also a 24-week study, following the same format, Disciple 2 dives deeper into Genesis and Exodus in the Fall and Luke and Acts in the Spring. This study is designed to help you hear God’s voice through studying the Scriptures, so you can go into the world as faithful witnesses and be of service to the world. Each week you will encounter three spiritual disciplines, learn what they are, and how you can engage those disciplines. The first discipline varies from week to week, then moves into Sabbath and prayer. In every session, you commit to how you will respond to Scripture in terms of ministry in the world. Into the World identifies some needs in the world for which ministry is needed and suggests possible responses, then invites participants to summarize the Scripture message that will shape their ministry and to decide what response and commitment to make to that message. Each week you will be guided in experiencing the gift of Sabbath rest and renewal.

Disciple 2 class:

Monday evenings: Begins September 9 | 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. | B203

Disciple 3: Remember Who You Are

This study examines the connection between memory and identity as the people of God. Participants will find common themes, including calls to remember, calls to repent, calls for renewal, and calls for community. In this study, there are 12 sessions on the Old Testament major and minor prophets (except Daniel) and on the 13 New Testament letters.

Disciple 3 will have two class offerings this Fall:

Tuesday mornings: Begins September 24 | 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. | B201

Monday evenings: Begins September 9 | 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. | B107
