Raising Up the Next Generation of Worship Leaders

About

The Bristol House Worship Resdidency is a 10-week summer program for college-aged students who have a heart and a gift for worship leading. Our worship residents will spend the summer growing in their discipleship, bonding in community, receiving hands-on training in music and leadership, and leading worship for ministries in and out of the church. We consider singers and musicians alike to be worship leaders and would love for all to apply. We know that God has placed inside so many of you a gift of leading worship, and our desire is to be a home where you can grow in your love of Jesus, in your gifting, and in your service of His church, and that ultimately you can discern the calling that God has placed on your life.

“My name is Zae Romeo, and I had the honor of being a resident for the Bristol House music residency almost six years ago. Not only was it my first experience with worship in a larger capacity, but it was the catalyst that moved me to pursue worship as a career. Since then God has taken me on a whirlwind ride all over America. I’ve had the absolute honor of seeing the Lord move in the lives of students everywhere, from Kansas City to California. For the last two years, I’ve been leading worship full-time as a student worship director at a church in Kansas City. I don’t believe I would have ever pursued or been able to get this job had a seed not been planted in me almost six years ago by the worship residency. For anyone who’s debating or thinking about doing the residency program, I can confidently say that it will change your life forever.”

“The residency is an incredible opportunity to learn, grow and build lifelong relationships. I was gifted a summer surrounded by some of the most talented people I’ve ever met, and this allowed me to grow my technical abilities as a musician but also showed me the skills it takes to navigate leading worship in the modern age that most don’t think about. Making music with these wonderful mentors pushed me past what I thought my limits were, encouraging me to give a more honest expression of worship to God. Additionally, I felt my soul yearning to grow closer to Him every day by just being on the campuses of TWMC. There’s an abundance of spiritual leaders and mentors who have helped me draw closer to God, especially after the year prior that just felt stagnant and stale. If I could sum up the residency in one word, it would be growth. In the environment TWMC and Bristol House have developed, it is impossible not to want to be the best version of yourself both on and off a stage. They light a fire under you that continues to inspire even after the summer is over, and they lovingly give you the tools to fan that flame, letting it grow brighter and brighter.”

“Summer 2023. There are no words to express this experience. God moved in ways that I can’t explain. He healed, He opened eyes and softened hearts, He loved, and so so so much more. ‘Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?’ (James 2:5) God tends to call people that we don’t expect, to do unexpected things for His glory. My senior of high school I would’ve never expected I’d spend two summers in The Woodlands, leading and loving on people. Little did I know in my first summer, after I had thought I’d experienced it all, and thought, ‘There’s no getting better than this,’ that God would move in my life in such a mighty way. The summer of 2023 was incredible, to say the least. God showed me how to lead, how to honor Him while I lead, and how to care for others and just love on people. In the summer of 2022, I kept bringing up Joshua 1:9. This was my verse of that summer, and now I can say it’s definitely my life verse. ‘Be strong and courageous for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’ God wasn’t calling Joshua to be strong and courageous because Joshua needed it. He called him to be strong and courageous for the people he would lead. Over the summers, I’ve learned how to lead by relying on strength and courage from the Lord. I’m so grateful for the experience I’ve had over the past two summers, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for the Bristol House residency program.”
